November 2010 Hot Button Winners

Congrats to our
November 2010 Hot Button of the Month Winner!

November's Hot Button of the Month Contest Winner is…Ashley Weaber from Lebanon, PA. Ashley creates her "Support Our Heroes" button ornaments to remind others of the sacrifices our troops make for us during the holiday season and of the challenges they face. Ashley faces challenges of her own - she has cerebral palsy and is legally blind - so her mom helps her with her button-making projects.

"I first heard about badge making when I was in the hospital after having a shunt operation on my head," Ashley said. "I loved it so much I asked for a machine to make them! I love to just make them and give them to people to show them I care and love them."

Ashley says she receives great responses from the people who receive her buttons and ornaments. "Some told me that they will put the ornaments on their tree each year to help them keep the heroes in their thoughts."

As the Hot Button of the Month winner, Ashley received a $100 Badge-A-Minit gift certificate.
Congratulations to our November 2010 Hot Button Winners! We enjoyed reviewing all of the entries and hope you get ideas for buttons of your own! Wishing you all a Happy Holiday Season - and don't forget to make some button ornaments of your own! In your spare time, take a minute to submit your favorite button to our December Hot Button Contest. Each Hot Button winner receives a coupon for 10% off their next purchase at Badge-A-Minit.com.
Bear's Den Opening
Valerie McTigue from the University of Maine in Orono submitted this button, which was designed to get the word out for the Grand Re-opening Event for the Bear's Den Cafe and Pub on the University's campus. "This was nice fun way for us to give the Class of 1944 the credit for the funding of the project," Valerie said. "Everyone loved the new design and the buttons were an inexpensive way to 'get the word out'!"
I Heart Vintage
Amy Fitzpatrick from Retox.Etsy.Com in Portland, Oregon created this button to help promote her online vintage store. "This button not only contains my branding (which is a charcoal drawing of my late grandmother-in-law), but it also carries a phrase that my customers will be proud to wear," said Amy. "I find that this little cutton works better than a sales pitch and business card!" Amy throws in a button or two with each purchase from her store - so the buttons help spread the word!
Fundraising Awards
We love how these buttons look framed in ribbons and rosettes! These award buttons were submitted by Kim Hannan from the Kansas City, Missouri Mounted Patrol, who made them for awards given at the organization's annual fundraising event. "Everyone loved them," Kim said.
Knott's Berry Farm Meetup
Christopher Farmer from Los Alamitos, CA, submitted this button and explained how members of an online comics and cartoons forum meet monthly in real life. They use buttons as a type of 'party favor' for those who attend the meeting. Two buttons are designed and produced each month to encourage new people to come to the meeting and to inspire a feeling of unity. Each month's designs have the month and year and a reference to the location, so that they can be collected as the meets go on. Older members now have a small gallery of mementos from past events. The group has found that wearing the buttons helps the online community grow - and that posting the newest buttons online gets people excited about the coming events!
